Nutmeg is the seed of an evergreen tree. Interestingly, the tree grows up to 60 feet tall. Moreover nutmeg is not a nut and does not pose a threat to people with nut allergies. Although the tree takes seven years to bear fruit, it may produce until the 90th year. Nutmeg has a pungent sweet taste and odour.

There are no varieties in nutmeg.

As per buyer requirements.

Nutmeg being an expensive commodity is generally shipped along with other items and not in bulk container loads. Hence, the volume of the purchase depends on the demand of the importer.

Whole nuts are preferable to ground nutmeg, as flavour deteriorates quickly. Whole nuts will keep indefinitely and can be grated as required with a nutmeg grater. Nutmeg is poisonous and should be used in moderation, a pinch or two is safe. Store both ground and whole nutmeg away from sunlight in airtight containers.
